A perfect date…

October 1, 2011
“If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you.” – A.A. Milne

Yesterday, we revived our romance a bit, with a pinch of planning, a spoonful of spontaneity, and the wind blowing through our hair.
We strolled along the National Harbor, arms linked, watching the sunset, taking in deep breaths of the crisp fall air, and absorbing every minute of this perfect balance of love and nature.

We climbed aboard Capitol Cruises, to take a mini-cruise of the monuments along the Potomac. The air had taken on a slightly chilly quality, but this did not deter us from staying out in the front of the boat, with unobstructed views of the world around us.  As we picked up speed, and sailed smoothly across the water, I felt myself exhale, long and deep.

Life could not be more perfect for me – a beautiful sunset, wind whipping through my hair, my trusty camera slung around my neck, the water around me, historical monuments surrounding us, with my darling Aaron by my side.
We loved every minute of the cruise and plan to go again before the season is over.
After storing my camera in the car, our spontaneity kicked in and we strolled along 31st street up to Georgetown – bustling with life, lights and color. We peeked in little, quaint restaurants, as we decided what we wanted to have for dinner. Everything looked so otherworldly, and inviting.  We stumbled upon a quaint, French-inspired place called Café La Ruche. We decided to have our appetizers there and ordered soups and bread.  It was lovely to have warm soup inside a cozy little café while outside, the winds picked up and the air was very crisp and cold.
After we devoured our appetizers, we made our way up the street, and took in all the hustle and bustle of Georgetown streets – old and young, families and friends, mingling and forming the fabric that is life. We passed several inviting restaurants, and finally decided on Thunder Burger. We were seated in the back of the restaurant that had a curious blend of old-worldly, and contemporary – old, heavy bookcases, mixed with croc-inspired couches, and cushions, and very interesting walls covered with ivy, that gave the place a very mossy look.  The food was delicious and we were hungry. We chatted happily while we shared some fried calamari, a huge burger and some crab cake sliders.
Just thrilled to be part of each other, and part of this wonderful life we are blessed to have together.
Too stuffed to eat any more, we strolled back to our car, and drove home.
A lovely evening.
