The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin – February 1st, 2011

February 5, 2011

A wonderful group of women got together one evening in a fabulous apartment, to discuss the ways the happiness could be achieved or approached. Happiness – that elusive and deceiving little bugger. But the thrill is in the journey, at least, it is for me. Although I had not read the entire book, as I was battling the pages of a few others at the time, I really liked the simplicity of the approach and the good, sound advice that was offered in the book. The ladies that were in attendance were open, honest, beautiful, funny and warm human beings and I was thrilled and comforted to be associating with them. One of them, even decided to spend her birthday with us 🙂

It was a book that all of us, at some point in our lives, have thought about. Maybe not in the exact way that she had written the book, but the concepts are universal and timeless. We talked about whether the author had a nanny that took care of her kids, so she could devote her time to all her projects; we discussed the propensity of human nature to accept happiness as a part of us or are we destined to believe it only if it has been logically explained to us; we talked about things that would make us happy – books being one of those things, of course; we talked about setting goals and discovered that a few of us had similar goals – simplify our lives.

I loved this evening, spent with fantastic ladies, who all seek from the best things in the world, and just make my little world a better place to be in right now. Looking forward to the next book club meeting!

P.S. I have not really written too much about what the book was about since the title lends itself to the explanation but if you are interested in starting your own happiness project, here is the blog associated with the book – http://www.happiness-project.com/
