Spaghetti Aglio, Olio E Peperoncino.

November 9, 2012
While I was searching for a pasta salad recipe last night, I accidentally stumbled upon this deliciously simple recipe! Spaghetti, Garlic, Olive Oil and Chili Flakes. This seemed too simple to taste good, I thought. But I tried it, anyway.
It was exactly as it claimed to be. Simple and Delicious.  This dish comes together in under 15 minutes,  using ingredients you always have in your pantry, looks great, and tastes so good—it makes you look like an accomplished chef!

This is a traditional Italian dish, quick and easy to make, and inexpensive, as well. The minced garlic and the chili pepper flakes give this a bit of a kick. If you are garlic lover, you will find yourself going back for seconds and thirds!

Ingredients

7 ounces of spaghetti
2 large or 3 small garlic cloves, minced
1 1/2 teaspoons of chili pepper flakes
1/4 to 1/3 cup of extra-virgin olive oil
3/4 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper

Directions

The measurements in this recipe can be shifted depending on your taste preferences.
  1. Cook spaghetti according to the directions on the package, until it is al dente.
  2. Strain spaghetti and place in a large serving dish.
  3. Add minced garlic, chili pepper flakes, olive oil, salt, and pepper, and mix together well.
  4. Serve warm or at room temperature.
I used a bit of garlic salt for taste. Cook the spaghetti al dente. There are recipes that still taste good if you slightly overcook the pasta, but not this one. Al dente spaghetti is the way to go here. The other thing is to remember to finely mince the garlic. Biting into a chunk of garlic is not a pleasant experience and a lingering one. So, chop the garlic well.

I loved this simple, easy meal! I know you will, too!
