Pohick Bay Park

September 24, 2015

I think I outdid myself this week in the “explore my surroundings” category. I mean, three parks in one week! The fact that Virginia has some of the most beautiful, lush, green, open country makes it easy to go to three parks in one week. In short, take advantage of your neighborhood. Get out more. Enjoy the lovely weather. Discover some hidden gems right in your neighborhood that you didn’t know about. Your children will love it and will thank you one day for giving them the adventure bug.

Today, I was invited to hang out with two lovely friends of mine who were visiting a nearby park – Pohick Bay Park – with their kiddos. Gracie, of course, went down for a nap, but since Aaron was home, I decided to take advantage of the uninterrupted girl time and photo-taking time.  The park was beautiful, showcasing a lot of Virginia’s beauty – lakes, green trees with leaves turning into the beautiful fall colors, perfect fall weather, fun playground area, boating, and a whole lot more.
My two beautiful friends – Cecily (in navy blue) and Michelle (with the pink earrings). These two are the epitome of kindness and loving friendship.  Incredible mothers, strong in their faith, fun, gorgeous, and they always make me want to be a better person whenever I am around them. I am thankful for the blessings in my life and friends, who become more like family, are at the top of that list.
We chatted, caught up with our lives, heard my stories of India, talked about our kids, and enjoyed the incredible weather, while the kids played around us, completely carefree. Michelle had to leave and put her little guy down for a nap, and Cecily and I wandered around the bay, while her little boy ran through the tall grass and threw stones in the water.

Aren’t these kids just adorable? It was a perfect morning and I loved every minute of it.
