Old Town Alexandria Farmer’s Market

July 2, 2016
Whenever we get a chance to visit our old haunts inAlexandria, we jump at it! One of our favorite things to do on a Saturday is to go to the Old Town Alexandria’s Farmers’ Market, sample all the delicious, juicy fruit and veggies, grab some delectable goodies and scrumptious bread, some fresh flowers, and just wander around, relaxing together. With Gracie, there is little chance of relaxing at the Farmers’ Market, but a whole lot of fun, nonetheless.
Here she is sampling some delicious peaches with her daddy, who also loves to sample pretty much every fruit they have on display. It being the 4th of July weekend, we are all dressed in our patriotic colors, and enjoying one of America’s oldest traditions – farmers markets – in one of the oldest all-year round farmers’ markets 🙂

We decided to do this on a whim, so of course, we invited our dear friends, Jeff and Lauma Wingrove, to join the madness 🙂 They readily agreed and it was loads of fun to have them come along.
The day was hot and humid – typical for a July day. This, of course, calls for some cooling off in the Old Town Market Square fountain. Yes, the one where you cannot put your feet in or run or play in at any time. Check out Gracie in the picture below. Yes, those are her little feet, smack down in the edge of the fountain ledge.

This lady is like my sister from another mother. We are so alike in so many ways, it’s ridiculous! We bonded instantly when we met a while ago, and she is one of the sweetest people I know and love 🙂 I always look forward to the times we can hang out and spend some time together. And, this outing was definitely one of them!

This place is always packed but not so crowded that you cannot stroll around at leisure. The vendors are great and I usually pick up some fresh salad greens, fresh flowers, fresh bread, and a fruit or two to munch on.

This little girl loved, I mean, LOVED splashing about in the water, and it is so much easier for kids to get away with this than if I were to jump in there and dip my feet in the cool water on a scorching day. So, I let her have her fun 🙂

THIS is the epitome of loving life to its fullest!
