Best of the Summer 2010

October 23, 2010

Any summer trip involving travel to 5 states in 6 weeks, has got to be the best summer ever! Aaron and I decided that we wanted to do this since we had too many family things happening to be traveling from California to all these different places – time-consuming and not very cost-effective. So we did what we thought was best – a six-week summer vacation!!!!

It started with a day trip from California to Utah, and then we rented a car and drove to Denver, Colorado for Aaron’s friend, Brent Pincock’s wedding. We enjoyed the nature and the sights of Denver and loved being at the wedding. We returned to Utah, and spent time with family. I was then invited to interview for a job that I had wanted two years ago, and the job interview was on the East Coast. So, I left Aaron in Utah, and flew to Virginia/DC area to interview. It was towards the end of June, and the summer was in full swing here – the humidity was unlike anything I had experienced out of India!

I had a wonderful day interviewing and decided to stay for the 4th of July weekend. At this point, Aaron and his father and brother, Samuel, decided to take their long-planned trip to DC. So I ended up spending about 10 glorious days in DC, taking in all the sights and soaking it in with real tourist vigor, completely unaware that in less than a week after this trip, I was going to be offered the job to move to Alexandria, VA and live 20 mins from the nation’s capitol!

We all returned to Utah for a few days, after which, the entire family of about 11 of us, left to Nebraska to start Jacob’s week of wedding events. We decorated and cooked and cleaned for the open house, which turned out to be a success. We then all piled into 3 cars and drove off to Nauvoo, IL for Jacob’s wedding and reception there. This was my favorite part of the summer and a very reflective one as well. We had a blast and it was so great to have large families come together and get to know each other.

After all the fun, we were so depressed that the summer was over and we were all returning to India, California, Portland, Idaho, Utah, etc. We have some of our best family memories from this summer vacation.

I will post each part of the trip individually with some fun pictures to accompany the post. I did not want to the memories to fade away without having a chance to document them. I loved time with the family and will always have great memories from the trip.
