Easter 2016

"I know that my Redeemer lives. What comfort this sweet sentence gives!
He lives, he lives, who once was dead. He lives, my ever-living Head.
He lives to bless me with his love. He lives to plead for me above.
He lives my hungry soul to feed. He lives to bless in time of need."
~ Samuel Medley, LDS Hymnbook, 1835

The most selfless act performed on this earth, and it was for me. For you. For each of us individually. Christ suffered and died for me. He rose again so that I might have the opportunity to return to live with my Father in Heaven and enjoy those blessings. What a wonderful day to celebrate His unconditional love for us!

This year, I felt extremely grateful for this sweet, little family of mine. We have learned and grown so much. We have welcomed this little baby girl into our lives who has forever changed it.

Easter Egg Hunt

"Easter. The only time it's okay to put all your eggs in one basket."
~ Author Unknown

Last year, Gracie was too little to do an Easter Egg Hunt. This year, when my friend, Sarah, organized one and invited the ward, I knew Gracie would like to go to a park and look for colorful eggs with lots of other kids. We packed ourselves up in the car right when she woke up, and headed out to a park just down the street from us. Surprisingly, we had never been to this park before. It wasn't much of a park but it had a swell play area with slides and swings and monkey bars.

It was a lot colder than we had imagined it would be but luckily, I had come prepared with a jacket and a hat for Gracie. Not so much for me. Brr when it got windy! We got there right as they were starting, so we had two minutes to get the eggs, scatter them around and let Gracie loose with a basket.

Attempting Boeuf Bourguignon a la Julia Child

“ one is born a great cook, one learns by doing.”
~ Julia ChildMy Life in France

The reason I titled this as "attempting"is because this was my first time tackling a Julia Child recipe. I know. Sacrilegious, right? I belong to a dinner group along with four other couples from my church. We meet once every other month, and sample a particular cuisine. The theme is different each time, and we all learn how to make something new.

This month was my turn, and I chose to do a French-themed night. This made for an exciting time because the recipes I had chosen involved cooking with wine. I am a Mormon and do not drink any alcohol. The classic Julia Child recipe I picked called for one BOTTLE of wine. Yep.

Flight Trampoline Shenanigans

“Watch the sunrise at least once a year, put a lot of marshmallows in your hot chocolate, lie on your back and look at the stars, never buy a coffee table you can't put your feet on, never pass up a chance to jump on a trampoline, don't overlook life's small joys while searching for the big ones.”

On the morning of my birthday, Gracie and I got dressed and made our way to a really fun place - Flight Trampoline.  Since Gracie loves to jump up and down on our bed, I figured it was time to introduce her to trampolines :) As long as they were in someone else's backyard, so to speak.  This place was awesome!

Birthday Flowers 2016

“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”
Dr. SeussHappy Birthday to You!

The one way to definitely cheer me up any day, not just my birthday, is to give me some fresh flowers! This year, I couldn't wait and just got myself some flowers, hahaha :) It was cold, winter still had her freezing fingers dipped in the air, and it rained a bit. But, you would never know that if you walked into my house on my birthday and saw this beautiful, bright, cheery bouquet.
